"Mami wata stories, tales of the seas - of all that she was, all that she is, and all that she came to be.
As from the wata the stories she sends. And it starts not from the beginning, middle, or at the end,
but in the space of eternity
For that is where it all takes place, the stories of the wata, the stories of the seas, the stories of the royal rain, rivers, and the streams..."
- Mama Wata stories written by Esi-Akua
Mami wata stories are channeled stories from my Mami Wata ancestral lineage in which tells the never ending tales/tails of life, Death, the divine powers of nature, and everything else in-between, in its totality.
The phenomenon of Life and Death, nature, and its Creator can be a complex ideal to grasp, but when such complexities are told in the form of stories it can be refined to simplicity and easily understood and digested by all ages, and yet "Mami Wata stories" still holds its mysteries and riddles written in-between the lines and woven into each sentence and word for us to decode in a fun and insightful way, written with the knowledge, wisdom, and point go view of living an afro-centric life.
Each story/book that is released under "Mami Wata stories" can all be read as stand alones but are all interconnected and woven into each other - just like our own individual story of Life: When brought together WE create the bigger picture - the story of Life in its totality.
Mami Wata stories have stories for both children and adults to enjoy, and it is a movement of changing the narrative and reclaiming OURstory, bringing back the feminine into the story of creation - HERstory, and pouring back into the diaspora by giving us a narrative and image in which is deeply rooted within afro-centric culture, traditions, and a whole way of Life.
The stories in which we tell ourselves and to our community should reflect to us our identity, keep us in our purpose, and keep us strong and firm in all that we was, all that we are, and all that we will eternally be - and this is what I promise to provide as I share "Mami Wata stories" with you: identity, purpose, and a firm establishment of self! - Mami wata stories are truly stories of the soul, for the soul.
Our stories are indeed written in the stars, brought down to us via the life giving force of the waters rain, and flows to all corners of the world so that we always know who we are, where we came from, and where we are going - an eternal story of the journey back to The Creator within us all.
